Golden Yarrow (Eriophyllum Confertiflorum)
Golden Yarrow can be found in many different plant communities. Ranging from woodlands to grasslands to chaparral. This is a native shrub that grows anywhere from 1-3 feet tall. The leaves are sharply lobed and divided. The top of each stem has a flower cluster of up to 30 flower heads. Golden Yarrow is tolerant to cold weather, as well as drought deciduous.Coast Live Oak (Quercus Agrifolia)
Coast Live Oak is an evergreen tree that can grow anywhere from 40 -70 feet tall. The Coast Live Oak is the dominant tree in the coastal oak woodland plant community. It has a simple, alternate leaf pattern. The underside of the leaves have tufts of hair. It has dense foliage, produces acorns, and is also a drought tolerant tree.
Our Lord's Candle (Hesperoyucca Whipplei)
Our Lord's Candle is a native shrub to California. It is found in chaparral, coastal scrub, and woodland plant communities. They produce a stemless cluster of long, rigid leaves with pointed ends. The leaf edges are finely saw-toothed. The flower spike grows 10-15 feet tall. Our Lord's Candle is drought tolerant.
Arroyo Willow (Salix Lasiolepis)
Arroyo Willow a native tree or shrub, and is able to grow in many different plant communities such as riparian, chaparral, and grasslands. It produces a yellow catkin flower that is important too many insects and birds. It can grow 7-35 feet tall. It is deciduous, and is upright rounded and upright columnar.
Hummingbird Sage (Salvia Spathacea)
Hummingbird Sage is a native ground cover that can grow up to 3 feet tall. It has a woody base and flowering stems. It grows in chaparral and woodland plant communities. It has an oblong, almost arrowhead-like shape at the base of the leaves, and the edges have rounded teeth. It is very soft to touch, as it is covered in hairs. The hairs become denser on the bottom part of the leaves. Dark red flowers are produces in clustered, whorled inflorescence 15-30 centimeters long. It is cultivated in gardens, and has a very strong aromatic presence.
Blue Dicks (Dichelosemma Capitatum)
Blue Dicks are normally found in riparian and woodland communities. It is a herbaceous perennial bulb that can grow up to 2 feet tall. It has 2 to 3 leaves that grow anywhere from 10 to 20 centimeters long. It produces flower clusters that are umbel like and very dense. It is anywhere from 2-15 blue/ purple like flowers. This plant is summer deciduous.
Toyon (Heteromeles Arbutifolia)
Toyon is a beautiful tree that can grow up to 8 feet tall, although sometimes it can grow up to 30 feet tall. It is usually found in chaparral and woodland communities. The leaves are evergreen, alternate and sharply toothed. The leaves are around 5 centimeters long and 2 centimeters wide. It produces small, 5 petaled, white flowers in the summer. It also produces small, red, berry-like fruit.
California Sycamore (Platanus Racemosa)
California Sycamore is a deciduous tree. It grows in many different plant communities such as, woodland, chaparral, grassland, and riparian. It produces simple, palmate, alternate leaves that have very deep lobes. The bark is a pretty white, pinkish color. This tree can grow anywhere from 20 to 115 feet tall. It has twisting branches as well.
Hedge Nettle is a California native ground cover. It is mainly found in the chaparral plant community. It is a perennial herb. This is not a true nettle in the fact that it does not form a hedge, and does not sting as true nettles do. Instead, it is a delicate and attractive flowering plant. The flowers are a lavender color, and it blooms spring through summer.

Hedge Nettle is a California native ground cover. It is mainly found in the chaparral plant community. It is a perennial herb. This is not a true nettle in the fact that it does not form a hedge, and does not sting as true nettles do. Instead, it is a delicate and attractive flowering plant. The flowers are a lavender color, and it blooms spring through summer.
Coast Redwood (Sequoia Sempervirens)
The Coast Redwood is an evergreen tree that is native to California. It grows in the redwood forest plant community. It has needle-like, alternate leaves. The fibrous bark is a gorgeous cinnamon brown color, and is spongy. This tree grows anywhere from 90 to 350 feet tall. It has female seed cones, and produces a blueish green cultivar with young male cones.
